As the squad photograph for this season has not yet been located, we have the City line-up from the away fixture against Reading on the 9th April 1955, which ended up as a stalemate.

Exeter City narrowly avoided relegation in this season, placing 22nd in the Third Division South, just six points above the drop-zone. Exeter also did not enjoy an FA Cup run in this season, exiting in the First Round at the hands of Millwall.

After the game City Manager I think Frank Houghton invited Ian to join City as an amateur."
