Archie Collins

Originally from Bridgwater, Archie came through City’s academy as an exciting number 10 who had captained a number of the youth sides, signing his first professional contract in April 2017. He was sent out on loan shortly afterwards, moving to Weston-Super-Mare for a brief spell at the start of the 2017/18 season. Archie returned from this spell in his native Somerset to make his first team debut for the Grecians in a 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea’s under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy. Like many before him, Archie eventually found himself on loan at Dorchester Town, joining up with the south Dorset side for the second half of the 2017/18 season. Following his impressive spell at Dorchester, Archie found himself involved in Matt Taylor’s first team plans and he made his league debut as a last-minute substitute in a 3-1 home win over Cheltenham, just a few minutes after Jonathan Forte had scored the 1,000thgoal under Supporters’ Trust ownership. As the season progressed so did Archie’s involvement in the starting XI, impressing Matt Taylor and earning himself a new long-term contract shortly after scoring his first professional goal in January 2019, a long-range curler that secured a 2-0 away win at Swindon Town. Archie has been an integral part of Matt Taylor’s team ever since and has gone on to captain the side on multiple occasions. He featured at Wembley in the play-off final defeat to Northampton in 2020.
