Biographical Text

Pool started his career with Annan-based club, Solway Star. He then signed for Blackburn Rovers in 1921 and in four seasons at Ewood Park made 17 league appearances.

He moved to Bristol City for the 1925-26 season, but unfortunately hurt his back in a motorcycle accident on the eve of the campaign.

He recovered to play in 12 league games, however he then linked up with Exeter City in the summer of 1926 and embarked on his best spell of his career.

Making his debut against Merthyr Town at St James’ Park in August 1926, Pool went on to play in 74 Third Division South matches for the Grecians, scoring three goals.

Leaving Exeter in the 1929 close season he signed for Stalybridge Celtic.
