Biographical Text

Rekeem Harper, a midfielder, joined Exeter City on a season-long loan in August 2022 from Ipswich Town.  Having previously played for West Bromwich Albion, he joined Burton Albion shortly after his time at St James' Park was over.  

Rekeem was in the West Bromwich Albion academy from age twelve and became a scholar/trainee in 2016. He made his first-team debut aged seventeen in the Premier League against AFC Bournemouth in August 2017 and signed a two-year professional contract a fortnight later. He was soon to go on loan to Blackburn Rovers for whom he made nine league appearances. 

Rekeem made seventeen Championship appearances (including a play-off game) in 2018/19 scoring his first goal for Albion against Rotherham in April 2019. His performances that season earned him the club's Young Player of the Year award and, in summer 2019, Rekeem signed a new three-year deal. After playing ten league games in Albion’s 2019/20 promotion season, Rekeem appeared twice in the Premier League before joining Birmingham City on loan for the remainder of 2020/21.

Rekeem left Albion in June 2021 after making thirty league appearances in all, often playing in cup games and representing England at under-17 and under-19 level. He was then to join Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee reported to be an initial £500,000. At Portman Road, after starting six league games (with another seven as substitute), Rekeem moved on loan to Crewe Alexandra In January 2022 for the rest of the season. By summer 2022 he had made over a hundred appearances for his various clubs In all competitions.

After an appearance for Ipswich in the League Cup, Rekeem began his loan at Exeter towards the end of August 2022 and soon made his debut as a substitute against Accrington Stanley on 27 August 2022. He made his first league start at Shrewsbury on 13 September 2022 and scored his only goal for the club on 10 April 2023 at Peterborough which also proved to be his final game for City. Returning to Ipswich at the end of the season, Rekeem had aopeared in slightly fewer than half of the games that had been played during his stay. 

Rekeem's Ipswich Town contract was cancelled by mutual consent towards the end of June 2023 leaving him free to sign for Burton Albion on the same day as Kegs Chauke who he had played alongside at Exeter.
