Biographical Text

Harry Smith, a striker from Leyton Orient, made five substitute appearances on loan to Exeter City in autumn 2022.

Harry, from Chatham, played youth football for Gillingham, Brentford and Chelsea before appearing in non-league for Sevenoaks, Sittingbourne and Folkestone Invicta. He helped Folkestone win promotion in 2016 and, after trials with Aberdeen and Gillingham, Harry joined Millwall on a two-year deal in 2016. Whilst with Millwall Harry played 9 games, scoring once, before joining Swindon Town on what was originally intended to be a season-long loan to Swindon Town. But, with Harry not playing enough games, he was back at the New Den by Christmas only to be released at the end of the season. He then had a season at Macclesfield Town before moving, for an undisclosed fee, to Northampton Town in May 2019. After two seasons with the Cobblers, which included a loan spell at Motherwell, Harry was transferred to Leyton Orient in July 2021.

When Orient allowed Harry to join Exeter on 1 September 2002, on what was planned to be a season-long loan, he had scored thirteen times in forty-six league games for the Brisbane Road club. In all Football League games, for his various clubs, Harry’s tally was now 31 goals in 143 matches. Harry duly made his debut for Exeter as a late substitute at Shrewsbury on 13 September 2022 before making four more substitute appearances up to early October when Harry asked to be released from his loan.

He subsequently made three league appearances for Orient in January 20203 before joining Barnet on loan. Whilst with Barnet Harry scored both goals in their 2-1 FA Trophy win at Torquay in February 2023. Returning to Brisbane Road, Harry was released at the end of the season and signed for Sutton United ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
