MIDDLEZOY Ladies put up a valiant effort in their first league match of the season, but the visiting Grecians pulled away in the second half.

Zoy went behind on five minutes but were quickly on level terms, Anusia Rourke tapping home at the back post.

The hosts then went ahead just before the break through Chloe Snook's lob, but Zoy couldn't hold on to their lead until half-time as City struck back immediately.

Three unanswered goals in the second period then secured the three points for the visitors, but the hosts can take heart from a fine display.
