MATCH REPORT

EXETER 3 ILLOGAN 3
(W.F.A. CUP 2nd Round)

This was going to be hard and we new it. without Jackie and several of our players less than 100% fit, we set too the task well. This game was one of the most entertaining and well played games I have seen for a long time and can only advertise Women's football in the best possible way. The team played well and each player stuck to the task of playing good thoughtful and striking football.

The first half flew by with us getting off to a shakey start, by a unfortunate back pass which put Illogan into the lead. but not letting this effect us we kept our game together and we soon rectified this by Bridget opening Exeter's account, and all was square at half time.

The second half was full of good football produced by both teams again a defensive error put Illogan into the lead, but again we bounced back, keeping up the pressure and making sure of our the chance to level. Bridget got her second of the game.  Time soon left us with a draw at the end of eighty minutes, and having to play into extra time.

Into extra time and a well taken free kick by Bev Bertram put the opposition into the lead once again. For the third time Exeter never gave up and with just seconds left the chance of putting the game square came to Mandy L. who made absolutely sure that her free kick would hit the back of their net, and it did, a great goal. A just result 3-3, with us now having to face a trek down to Illogan to settle who will go through to the next round. Well played Exeter a  fine performance from everyone.
