Ladies in a flurry

EXETER Ladies FC opened up their Women's Western League account yesterday with a goalscoring flurry. Barry were on the receiv ing end of an 11-0 thrashing as Exeter went on the rampage.

Bridget Thomas scored five times as Exeter piled on the pressure, particularly in the second half. Their other goals came from Mandy Langman (2), Penny Wilson, Julie Trott, Annie Hesketh, and Frances Crispin, her first for the club.

Old enemy

Exeter travelled to Wales without a regular goalkeeper but stand-in Mandy Bowen was called into action only once, late in the game.

And Exeter learned today that they have been drawn against the old enemy in the first round of the WFA Cup. They meet Tiverton, now playing in the South Western League, on October 10.
