Biographical Text

Alan Kimble arrived on loan from Charlton Athletic with his twin brother Gary and played a single game for Exeter City in September 1985. He went on to play 299 league games for Cambridge United and 215 for Wimbledon in a 536-game Football League career.

Kimble started his career at Charlton Athletic alongside his twin brother, Garry Kimble. They both progressed through the youth ranks to make brief appearances in the Charlton first team before the pair of them joined Exeter City on loan in August 1985. Like his brother, Kimble only played once for the Grecians, that being in a 2-0 home defeat against Southend United. J

Joining Cambridge United on a free transfer in August 1986, this proved to be a great move, as he totalled 299 league appearances, scoring 24 goals. Kimble moved to Premier League side Wimbledon for a fee of £175,000 in July 1993 and he stayed with the Dons for nearly nine years, making 215 league appearances. After a loan spell with Peterborough United, Kimble left Wimbledon to join Luton Town in August 2002, but he was to only play 12 league matches for the Hatters. He then signed for Dagenham & Redbridge, before having a brief spell with Heybridge Swifts.

Kimble became assistant manager at Gravesend and Northfleet in March 2005, but due to financial cut backs, he left the club in August 2009. He was appointed manager of Ryman Leaguers, Aveley in May 2010, with his brother, Garry appointed his assistant. He linked up with Hemel Hempstead Town as their assistant manager in November 2011, but three months later became assistant manager at Eastbourne Borough. In 2014, he became manager of Maldon & Tiptree. He left the club at the end of the 2014–15 season.
