"CARRY ON, HULMES!

GARY HULMES was invited to sign professional forms this week after knocking them in for the youth team again last Saturday and prompting a highly encouraging appraisal from manager Walter Joyce, Gary scored two goals, and Bell one, in the 3-2 win against a near full-strength Bolton youth side. "I think they were missing two players, but we were missing two as well. It was a good performance", the manager said. "Hulmes, at 17 and an amateur, is showing a lot of promise. One thing I am particularly pleased about is the way he has the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time. He is scoring goals at the level he is playing in. We have to find out now if he can produce that at first-team level.
"He has a lot of pace and a lethal shot in either foot. He is not a ready-made answer at this stage but he could be in a few months."
