Exeter City boss Steve McLear labelled his side's performance in their 6-1 South West Women's Premier Division defeat to Gloucester the worst since he took charge of the team. City beat the same opposition home and away last season and McLear admitted he was at a loss to explain the dramatic turnaround in fortunes.

"That is the worst performance I have seen from them," he said. "It was embarrassing. I don't think that they are much better than last year it was just we were that bad. The performance was non-existent." It had all started well for the Grecians when Jo Goldsworthy (photo) fired them in front on 10 minutes, but after that it was all downhill and they conceded goals at regular intervals.
