MATCH REPORT

Sunday 2nd October 2005

South West Women's Football League - Premier Division

Exeter City Ladies 0 Poole Town 0

Exeter City played at home to Poole without manager Steve McLear who had spent the week in hospital. City dominated the game but had to settle for a point, with neither side able to break the deadlock.

But it will be the visitors who will be happier with the draw, with the Grecians pounding their box throughout and being thwarted by the woodwork on more than one occasion.

Steph Matthews impressed in midfield, with Kellie Hall putting in a flawless display at the back. New signing Teresa Ryan enjoyed an excellent debut and was one of several City players to see efforts come back off the crossbar. Lisa Clarke also made a return to the City side after a lengthy absence and after a lively display was unlucky not to mark her comeback with a goal.

City skipper Jo Goldsworthy said: "We were primarily looking to keep a clean sheet, which we achieved, but having dominated the game it would have been nice to get the three points we deserved. All the girls send their best wishes to Steve and hope he makes a speedy recovery."
