Exeter City COE thrashed North Prospect Rangers 16-0 to take another step towards promotion from the Westward Development Devon Women's League Division Two. Exeter are now three points clear of Ivybridge Town with a game in hand.

Hannah Cox scored early on before Lola Sanchez netted a brace including a crisp half-volley. Cox got her second from the penalty spot and Mandy Earle put COE 5-0 ahead. Gabby Stoneman opened her account from the penalty spot before Cox completed a first half hat-trick on 38 minutes, and Stoneman found the net again to hand Exeter an 8-0 lead at the break.

Cox fired in her fourth goal five minutes into the second half and Stoneman completed her treble moments later. Kelly Hall (photo) latched on to a Stoneman cross to launch a bullet of a header into the net from the edge of the box, and Emma Jones added her name to the score-sheet too.

Stoneman grabbed her fourth and Naomi Wilkins hit a brace before Stoneman completed the rout with her fifth of the match, taking her season's tally to 15. "The finishing was good," Exeter COE boss Steve McClear said. "We maintained our shape and discipline and kept passing the ball about which was pleasing. This is what we're coaching them to do - whether they're 2-0 up or 10-0 up, we've got to keep playing football. We're looking to get promoted and we're more or less there now - the players are doing themselves proud."
