Midfielder

George Birch, a wide/attacking midfielder from Somerset, signed for Exeter City as a scholar/trainee after finishing school in 2023. He had been with the club’s academy since the under-14 category following the closure of Yeovil Town’s programme.

As an under-16 age group player, he started playing for Exeter City under-18s in the Youth Alliance in early 2023 having earlier arrived from Yeovil with fellow future trainee Kye Cooper. Starting as a scholar in July 2023, George played regularly for the under-18s in league games as well as featuring in both of the club's FA Youth Cup ties in the 2023/24 season.
