Biographical Text

Goalkeeper Dave Collyer never appeared for Exeter City in the Football League, nor the FA Cup or the League Cup, but did play against Plymouth Argyle in the final of the Devon Bowl.  

Then a student at St Luke's College, he deputised for John Smout in City's 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on 13 May 1968. Played in front of a 3,200 crowd, both City's goals were scored by Alan Banks. 

Dave later played for Kingstonian, Woking and Sutton United before becoming assistant manager of Walton & Hersham. He died in Surrey in 2006 after suffering from a chronic illness for many years.
