Inside-Forward

Smith played for Exeter City in the Plymouth and District League before the club turned professional in 1908.

He played once for Exeter City’s first-team as an inside-forward against Plymouth Argyle reserves on 29 February 1908. In a season when thirty-two players appeared in the first team he was one of three players who made their solitary appearances for the club in the same game.

[Not clear if this is the same Smith who played during the preceding season in goal. Both seasons saw a high turnover of players who were often drafted in to play just one game].
