1983
Exeter Ladies FC had a surprisingly comfortable 11- 1 win over Newport LFC yesterday to maintain their challenge for the Women's Western League championship. It was an incident-packed match with one player and two linesmen "sent off" and two more players booked. Referee Steve Bowley dis- pensed with two linesmen from Newport and one of their defenders was dismis- sed in the second half after a goalmouth incident that also saw Exeter's Bridget Thomas booked for retaliation. Another Newport defender was cautioned for dissent to a neutral linesman who replaced their own. Exeter did well to keep their cool in the face of some intimidating tackling but their reply was deadly. Leading scorer Annie Hesketh tore the Welsh defence to shreds with her electrifying pace and hit six goals. The rest came from Mandy Langman (2), Thomas, Penny Wilson, and a Newport defender.

1993
Jim McIntyre makes his debut for Exeter - and scores his first goal - in a 2-2 draw aginst Stockport at home. Jim joined for a loan spell from Bristol City
