1930
Percy varco scores his first goal for Exeter and the winner over Norwich in a 1-0 home win, Arthur Davies makes his league debut in the same game.

1945
Hectic times at St James Park as feverish efforts were being made to get the ground into shape for the first home fixture of the season against Swindon Town. A bulldozer was at work levelling parts of the Big Bank before re-terracing work was carried out, The club assured spectators that everything that was humanly possible would be done for their comfort and safety, following the neglect during the War years. The Club were faced with a herculean task in getting the Park shipshape following it's long term occupation by the military. They asked fans to help the stewards and themselves to avoid congestion by arriving early at the ground. Everything pointed towards a big attendance for the first Football League match to be played at the Park since September 1939. Meanwhile Exeter City announced that they had signed Harry Boye-Karlsen, based locally with the Norwegian Air Force. The player had made a great impression when scoring six goals for his Air Force team in an 8-1 win over the Royal Marines in a fixture played at St James' Park.

1963
Exeter City chairman Reg Rose told a club's shareholders meeting that as a business man he had never seen or heard of any business in a worse mess than when he took over at St James' Park. He added: "The Club were at rock bottom and it had been touch and go whether to carry on. However, there are now more settled times ahead and things are getting a little easier."

1969
City were granted penission to sell alcohol on the terraces for 3 consecutive home games starting with the home game against Bradtord

1973
It was announced that the Club would like to see an Ex-City Players Association be formed. It was decided to go ahead with the idea following a meeting with the Supporters Club Executive Committee. Brains behind the idea was Exeter City Commercial Manager John Hillier who explained that the new clubhouse would be an ideal headquarters. Hillier added: "When we have invited former City players along to the Player of the Year dance they have enjoyed meeting each other and we think it would be the same if this association was formed. It would be the ideal means of keeping in contact with each other.

1991
"The honeymoon period is over," stated Exeter City manager Alan Ball, as he prepared for his fifth game in charge at Shrewsbury Town. City had suffered four straight defeats and Ball said: "We have done a lot of talking since our 4-0 loss at Birmingham. I am looking for a big improvement and that shouldn't be difficult. It does not matter whether you are playing Saltash United or Real Madrid, you cannot go on losing." Huddersfield Town centre back Ken O'Doherty had been signed on a months loan as Ball admitted that approaches for other players had been. made. But added that the defence had been a problem area simply by looking at the number of goals that were being concededUnfortunately, no improvement was shown as City were hammered 6-1 by Shrewsbury at Gay Meadow.

1994
Exeter City did not travel to Darlington without their kit, despite misleading reports that they had done so. The team arrived back in the early hours of Sunday morning to hear of reports that the kit had accidentally been left behind and they had been forced to borrow some from Darlington. "The reports are totally untrue and I would like to get my hands on the person who sent them," said City Kit Manager George Kent. "It makes us look unprofessional. We took two sets of kit with us, blue and white stripes and blue, white and yellow. The book which all Football League clubs have showing club colours stated that Darlington played in black and white horizontal stripes, but when we arrived we found they had changed to blue and white vertical stripes., We therefore borrowed a set from Darlington to avoid a clash."

1997
Peter Holcroft and John Williams. make their league debuts for Exeter in 1-0 win, away, at Doncaster.
