Reg Nobby' Clarke makes his debut for City against Newport, away.  He would go on to make over 330 appearances.

Exeter City beat Barnsley 2-1.
Manager Brian Godfrey has maintained all season that he pulled off the Third Division bargain of the year when Exeter City paid Portsmouth £20,000 for Dave Pullar in the summer. It was says Godfrey a give-away price for a 21-year-old with a bottomless source of energy terrific acceleration and an explosive left foot.
