A B Cook, an able seaman based at Devonport, appeared for the Royal Navy at left-half against an Exeter City XI during the autumn of 1920. Catching the eye of City's management, he was signed on Western League forms and played for the reserves against Douglas, a aerospace works team from Bristol, on 13 November 1920.
