Squad photo from the 1992/93 season in which Division Three was re-designated as Division Two due to the formation of the Premier League.


In this new Division Two Exeter finished in 19th place, and in both the FA Cup and League Cup lost in the Second Round. In the Football League Association Members Cup they enjoyed more success however and reached the Southern Final.

“A SEASON of lower mid-table mediocrity was overshadowed by more off-field trouble.
City's financial problems were becoming apparent. The club was twice banned from dealing in the transfer market after the late payment of fees for players and Scott Hiley and Kevin Miller were sold at knockdown prices to pay bills,
On-field indiscipline resulted in a trip to the FA and Ball incited a pitch invasion that ended with referee Bob Hamer being attacked by supporters
THE CLIMAX
EXETER, after just missing out on a debut Wembley appearance in the Autoglass Trophy final, again faced a nail biter on the last day of the season and once more required a helping hand to secure their status in the renamed Division 2.
A 1-1 last-day draw at Fulham was enough to finish 19th and outside the drop zone.
But it wouldn't have been sufficient had Preston not slumped to a 1-0 defeat at promoted Bolton Wanderers
