Clark, an outside left, played in trial matches for City at the start of the 1907/08 season and subsequently appeared in a friendly shortly after being promoted from corporal to sergeant. Making his league debut against Tavistock on 5 October 1907, he went to play a total of seven first-team league matches until his final appearance against St Michael's on 23 November 1907.
