George White

George White was born in Exeter in 1884.

George Thomas White was a Sergeant in the 1st Devonshire Regiment.

Remembered on panel 8/9 at Le Touret Memorial in Northern France with many Devonshire Regiment Servicemen. Service Number 6712. Died 30/10/1914 aged 30.

He was Exeter's Reserve team captain and played as a back for City as an amateur in 1910/11. He played in the practice games at the begining of the season.

He was the 1st City player to sacrifice his life during WW1. Husband of Ada Rose White, of 58, Portland St, Exeter.
