Biographical Text

Fred Parkhouse was involved with the Club as a Director.
The Exeter City Football and Athletic Club Limited was formed in 1908 with a capital of £3,000 divided in to £1 shares. The articles of the Company provided that if it should at any time have to be wound up, any surplus assets, after repaying the shareholders, should be given to another Devon and Exeter based club with similar sporting aims.

The first Board of Directors comprised of - William Fenwick (Accountant); Frederick Harvey (A Gentleman); Augustus Kendall (A Gentleman); Michael McGahey (Solicitor); Thomas Oliver (Licensed Victualler); Frederick Parkhouse (Grocer).

The objectives of the newly formed company were also to promote a variety of other sports - Athletics, Bowls, Cricket, Cycling, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Motor Car Racing, Polo, Quoits and Tennis.
