DESCRIPTION
Played at Shepherd's Bush, London. The weather was fine, but only a small crowd attended. The game was delayed through Pavey having to change his jersey, and Exeter losing the toss had to face a stiff breeze.

Shelton with a good pass to Casson got the Exeter forwards on the move, and Myers narrowly missed scoring against his old club. Good combination between Myers and Compton carried play to the Rangers' goalmouth, but Middleton cleared. Kirk then headed over the bar from a centre by Matthews. The Exeter goal had a narrow escape when Pollard was penalised a yard outside the penalty area for "hands." Birch took the free kick, and Pavey only managed to clear at the second attempt after dropping the ball. A dangerous attack down the middle was stopped by McDevitt, who placed a neat pass to Myers, but Exeter's move was then spoiled by Compton, who centred beyond the far post and over the line.
Casson got the ball into the net midway through the second half, but the goal was disallowed for "hands." The referee gave Queen' Park Rangers a penalty for hands against Mc Devitt, but altered his
decision to a dropped ball, which Charlton cleared.
