An amateur with Exeter City who appeared in the final eight matches of the 1907-08 season, making his debut in a 3-0 home win against Millbrook Rangers in March 1908.
"The death, in April 1917 has taken place at Gillingham Kent, after a brief illness of Dr Henry John Francis Badcock.
Dr Badcock was a well a Devonshire man, being a native of Crediton and was a well known Rugby Football player in the old days when Devon County were in their best form and held the County Rugby Championship.
He played for Crediton and on several occasions assisted Exeter City in the days of Ashford, Glass, Hussey and the brothers Pring.
The deceased was well known in the Chatham district taking a keen interest in many local activities especially in the temperance movement in which he was an enthusiastic worker he had also been a great supporter of local football"
