Wednesday, March 18th 1936.
READING 2 EXETER CITY 0.

Reading: Whittaker; Gregory and Robson; Johnson, Hayhurst, and Wright; Briggs, Fielding, Tait, Barley, and Owen.

Exeter City: Beby; Gray and Miller; Clarke, Robinson, and Angus; Hurst, T.Scott, McCambridge, Dunn, and J.Scott.

The exchanges in the first half were more vigorous than scien tific, and Gregory was injured in a tackle with Hurst, while Tait was cautioned by the referee for fouling Gray. Exeter put up a stout defence by were beaten by two goals to nil. Fielding scored in the first half and Tait afterwards.

THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINAL.
ARGYLE RESERVES v CITY RESERVES.

Exeter City Reserves had Poulter at outside-right in the semi final round of the Southern League Cup, at Home Park, today. McArthur played at right half and gave an outstanding display, particularly before the interval. Less than a thousand spectators watched the play, in which the Argyle, though facing the strong wind, impressed as the better and cleverer side in the first half. Exeter Reserves had the greater share of the game, however, and Ebdon, who was a forceful leader, and Poulter were the first to test Davies, the Grecians' old goalkeeper. After twenty minutes the Argyle took the lead, Melaniphy netting from close range following good work by Grozier and Osman. Exeter retaliated strongly but were checked by the Argyle backs, Milne and Wallace. Kirk was injured but resumed. Playing with the wind behind them in the second half the Argyle were easily the better side and scored four goals. They will now oppose Margate in the final.

Result:-
Argyle Reserves 5 City Reserves 0.
