EXETER CITY

The City lost their unbeaten away record at Millwall, but with the slightest luck, or a shade more strength in front of goal it would have been preserved, and a point would have been saved. Considering that they had to field several reserves Exeter were by no means disgraced. They deserved a draw on the strength of their second half performance. Millwall provided the speed, thrust, and energy, but if either of these teams comes to be concerned in the promotion race, that team will be Exeter City. Although only a Third Division team they attempted, and to some extent succeeded, with a style which was a close imitation of a first-class Scottish side.

Wednesday, September 15th 1937.
Exeter City Reserves 2 Aldershot Reserves 1.

Two goals, one in each half, by Coulston, won the game for the City Reserves after Hay had given Aldershot Reserves the lead in the 15th minute. "Nobby" Clarke, playing for Aldershot, proved that he is far from finished, and his ball control was second to none.
