Biographical Text

Ben Seymour came through the academy and appeared in around seventy first team games, often as a substitute, leaving to join Plymouth Parkway in 2022.

Ben became an Exeter City scholar/trainee in 2015 and signed as a professional in April 2017. He had a hugely-successful loan spell at Bideford in 2017/18, and another loan that season at Weston-super-Mare, followed in 2018/19 by a good spell at Dorchester Town and a stint at Gloucester City. Ben was then to make his first team debut against Coventry City in the League Cup on August 13 2019 and, his League debut - as a late substitute - against Leyton Orient on 14 September 2019 when he was immediately fouled leading to the award of a penalty converted by Nicky Law. Three days later, on 17 September 2019, Ben started his first league match playing against Port Vale. 

In total Ben was to appear in twenty-three matches in the truncated 2109/20 season including a substitute appearance against Colchester in the play-offs. He then played thirty-nine times in all competitions in the behind-closed-doors 2020/21 season during which he scored his first league goal for the Grecians at Colchester on 23 February 2021. Ben also scored twice in the EFL Trophy against Swindon and West Bromwich under-21s. But he was to play far less often in 2021/22, his final season with City, and did not feature after the EFL Trophy defeat against Portsmouth on 7 January 2022. This came after playing four National League games on loan at Yeovil Town with Ben later seeing out the 2021/22 season at Bath City.

Ben was released at the end of the 2021/22 season and signed for Plymouth Parkway. In September 2022 he scored an 11 minute-hat trick in a 7-2 win over a youthful Exeter City team in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl before, after scoring 27 goals in all competitions, leaving Parkway in May 2023 to spep up a grade with National League South Hampton & Richmond Borough who were managed by former Grecians goalkeeper Mel Gwinnett.
