Alan Roberts was a born in Porthleven, who unfortunately broke his leg on his 18th birthday playing for the reserves against Hereford at the Cat and Fiddle.

He was a trainee in 1988/89, playing for youth and reserve teams at Exeter City, a product of the then nursery club Camborne Lions, when he originally signed for Exeter in 1984/85 on schoolboy forms.

After leaving City, Alan joined Portleven in 1991/92, leaving them in 1995 to play for Illogan.
