Paul Abrahams was transferred from Dawlish to Exeter in early January 1988. He  joined city on non-contract forms to play primarily for the A team. An Experienced midfielder he had also played for Tiverton and Bath.

He made his debut against Bideford in a 10-0 win in the Devon and Exeter League at the heart of the defence.
