Chris Metters

Born 12 September 1990 Torquay.

Chris was at Exeter City as a youth player between 2007 and 2009. He played  against Cirencester in the South West Counties Youth cup final and played in the club's South West Youth League team in 2007/08. Prior to City, Chris had played age-group football for Torquay United.

He later played for Buckland Athletic and, at various times between 2013 and 2021, Newton Abbot Spurs.

Chris was far better-known as a cricketer. He was an outstanding young player at South Devon CC in Newton Abbot and was playing for Devon at the age of eighteen.

Chris soon played trial matches for Essex and Warwickshire's 2nd XIs. Switching to play for Exmouth CC, and starring for Devon in 2009, Chris signed for Warwickshire in 2010.

A slow left-arm bowler Chris burst on to the first-class scene in 2011 only to suffer a serious injury which would finish his career in the first-class game. He was back playing club cricket for Exmouth in 2013 for whom he continued to play for many years.

Chris is a director of the family decorating business based in Newton Abbot.
