David Broom

David was a substitute against Minehead on the 8/4/67 in the Western League, he was one of 6 apprentices in 1966/67. David played for the youth team in the FA Youth Cup in November 1966 against Torquay and Plymouth. He was a forward, playing at outside-right.

“I was signed by Ellis Stuttard and in 3 years at St James had 5 different managers one being my namesake Frank Broome on leaving the Grecians I went to our rivals Plymouth Argyll for trials under the manager Billy Bingham, returned to Tiverton and played for Elmore and teamed up with a certain Dermot Curtis and we won the East Devon Senior Cup beating Dawlish Town at St James Park then moved to Tiverton Town where i teamed up with my friend Alan Banks great players both Dermot and Alan”
