Ray Baverstock

Ray Baverstock, a left back, who had played 19 times for Swindon played in a trial match arranged by Gerry Francis against Bideford in October 1983.

Ray began his career with Swindon Town as an apprentice, turning professional in December 1981.

He played 17 times that season, but was released in May 1983 and later signed for Cheltenham Town, where he played over 250 games.

He later played  for Gloucester City and Worcester City before moving to Bath City in 1992, but left a few months later to join Moreton Town.

He went on to play for Gloucester City, Trowbridge Town, Forest Green Rovers, and Cirencester, becoming their manager and later Devizes Town in August 2002. 

He left Devizes to take over as manager of Swindon Supermarine later in 2002. He resigned as manager in October 2003 but was reappointed just twelve days later. He resigned again in January 2004
