Returning to Plainmoor without a deal at Anfield, he made a further eleven league appearances before signing for Wigan Athletic in January 2016.

Loaned back to Torquay immediately, and again subsequently, Dan eventually appeared 31 times for his hometown club. After a further loan spell at Rhyl, Dan was to leave Wigan in August 2019 without playing a first-team game.

Signing for AFC Fylde, Dan was mainly used as cover and had just six league and cup outings in a one-year stay. Switching to FC United of Manchester in 2020, Dan arrived at the club shortly after Evan Moran - another former Exeter City youth keeper - had moved on.

Quickly establishing himself Dan spent three years with the Manchester club appearing over a hundred times and winning a player of the year award whilst also completing his studies which gained him a degree in jounalism from Staffordshire University. He also claimed a winners medal in June 2022 keeping a clean sheet in the final of the Fenix Trophy, a European invitational tournament, in Rimini. Remaining with FC United in 2022/23, and playing in another edition of the Fenix Trophy in Milan, Dan moved back to the South West signing for Taunton Town in June 2023.
