Born Taunton 1963

Ian, then referred to as ‘Knott’ at Exeter City, was a goalkeeper from Wellington who played in the youth team in 1978/79. Many years later, after a long career with Tiverton, Ian appeared for Exeter City in the South West Counties League in 2007/08.

Around the time Ian played for City’s youth team he had already played in Taunton Town’s first team. He was also to play for Minehead although it is Ian’s thirteen seasons at Tiverton which are best-remembered. This included the 1993 FA Vase final alongside Lee Annunziata, Peter Rogers, Kevin Smith and Hedley Steele  

More recently, in July 2022, Western League Wellington announced that Ian was to work with them as a goalkeeping coach.
