Biographical Text

Bert Brown, signed from Bath City, appeared once for Exeter City in the Football League Cup in 1962 but failed to make a league appearance during his short time with the club.

On finishing his studies at St Luke’s College in Exeter, Bert joined Crystal Palace in 1956 and made three league appearances before signing for Queens Park Rangers. Failing to make the first-team during his time at Loftus Road, he moved back home to Bristol to play for Bath City.

Known to manager Cyril Spiers from his time at Selhurst Park, Exeter City offered Bert the chance to return to professional football in 1962 although, after appearing against Aldershot in the relatively-new Football League Cup on 5 September 1962, he did not feature again in the first team.
