Richard Thompson

Richard Thompson was 6ft 3in striker, who was invited to City by Colin Appleton for a two day trial in 1988

After a day it became apparent that he was still under contract at Newport County and so he returned to Wales.

He subsquentley joined Torquay, where he played over 30 games before going on loan to Yeovil and in August 1989 signing for them, where he played nearly 40 games.

Richard later played for Trowbridge Town, Salisbury City, Yate Town, Forest Green Rovers, Mangotsfield, Taunton ( for whom he won an FA Vase medal) and Tiverton. 

In July 2000, Richard was appointed as manager of Yate Townand has since led the side to two promotions, leaving them in 2009 and was next manager Almondsbury Town.

In April 2012, he was appointed manager at Mangotsfield Town.
