He played in the club's South West Youth League team.

He was at Exeter City, with the U-15's development squad at the Centre of Excellence in 2007 to 2009.

Lewis played for Exmouth in 2013, later he played for Tavistock and St Blazey. 

At the start of the 2016 season, Tavistock AFC reported

"After a putting three past the keeper during the pre-season friendly against Bridgwater, Lewis Coombes went on to keep the nurses company as he suffered a broken leg.

Lewis and Tavistock AFC would like to thank Bridgwater Town for their help and words of support.

He is likely to be out for a while but all at the club and beyond wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch."
