Turner, Debbie

"Debbie is 14 years old and scored her first goal in league football against Tiverton Motel. If she plays like that every week she will score more."

-Rod Hawker, October 77 newsletter.

Debbie Turner joined Exeter L.F.C. in season 1977/78 and began playing football in the Devon League with Exeter Reserves. Debbie's enthusiasm for football meant that she was quick to learn and progress and it soon became evident that she would become a first-team player, as her skills improved with every match. Debbie can play in midfield where she creates many goalscoring chances or as a forward where she has often scored goals for Exeter. A member of our 1978 youth cup winning side, Debbie is now a first-team player well respected for her responsible approach to the game on the pitch and off the pitch is always willing to help with fund raising etc regiving recongnition for this by winning last season's Clubwoman of the Year Award.
(from a programme article v St Catherine's 16/04/1980)

Debbie Turner continued to play for Exeter in the 1970's and 80's as a defender. On the 28th August 1983 she played her 100th game for Exeter Ladies against Reigate in a Friendly.
