Barbour-Gresham, Georgie-Marie

Georgie played 19 games for the 1st team in 2018/19, scoring 13 goals and 14 league games in the curtailed 2019/20 season scoring a further 6 times.

She was part of the England Colleges squad in November 2019 this was reported in the programme 

Exeter City Women's powerhouse midfielder Georgie Barbour-Gresham has been selected to represent England Colleges at under-19 level.

The squad was decided following trials at Hartpury College, and Georgie was successful over two rounds against sixty players from across all AOC colleges in England.

Georgie received the call up via email, and on receiving the news said: "I just can’t believe it, the quality from the trial was so high, I didn’t know if I had made the cut, the trial went really well and I really enjoyed myself. I am super excited to get going again, and meet up with the girls in January."

England Colleges will play Independent Schools FA at St Georges Park, before flying out to play in a tournament in Italy. Where England are currently reigning champions!

Clive Watts, Exeter City Women’s Manager said: "As a club we are immensely proud of her for her call up - it is thoroughly deserve for all the hard work she puts in on the training ground. Georgie has a super attitude, her desire and technical ability is what sets her above from the rest. This is an amazing opportunity for her and just the start of her journey into international football I am sure.

Georgie, who progressed through CITY Community Trust's Girls Development Centre, is in her second year studying A levels in PE, Sociology and History at the College, while training and playing regularly in the Women’s Football Academy. The team currently play in the very competitive AoC Sport ECFA Cat 1 league, and are coached by Abbie Britton of the City Community Trust. 

Speaking of Georgie’s amazing achievement, Abbie said that: "Georgie is a fantastic endorsement of the blossoming partnership with Exeter City FC and this story is sure to be an inspiration for many U16 players who are looking to progress in the game. The whole squad are delighted with her selection, and as captain of the team they will be following her progress closely.”


The English Colleges FA and AOC reported the following at the 2019/20 player of the year awards.

proudly captained the national side throughout the WSL Academy Cup campaign and was vice captain for the tour of Italy. She too did not miss one fixture and proved to be a leader on and off the pitch, always encouraging every member of the squad.

Georgie said: “I’m very honoured to receive this award, as it’s in memory of someone who loved the game as much as I do. Luke’s story is truly inspiring, and his belief that better never stops is definitely something I live by in my football. I’m over the moon with this achievement and I will try to use it as a springboard into wherever my future career takes me.”

ECFA Women’s Head Coach Keith Boanas said: “Georgie fully deserves this honour having made an impact from the trials onwards, adapting quickly to the environment and step up in level.

“She is a vociferous and determined character on the pitch with both technical and physical attributes. I think I speak for all our staff when I say she is a pleasure to coach and work with and we all look forward to seeing her develop further in her career.”

In July 2021, Cheltenham Town that "The club are delighted to announce the signing of Georgie-Marie Barbour-Gresham from fellow  South West side Exeter City. The former England Colleges captain is our second summer signing for the 2021/22 FA WNL season." After 31 apperances and 5 goals over 3 seasons, Georgie moved to play for Forest Green Rovers, scoring 4 goals in 7 games on 2023/24 before rejoining Exeter WFC in January 2024.
