Carpanini (Corkin), Debbie

Debbie Corkin's first taste of organised football was when she became the regular centre-forward for her junior school team. "Debbie joined us at the age of eleven, and in her first season made one appearance for the Devon League side, going on to become a regular Devon League player, playing too for our Cup winning under 16 side, and representing the league at Under 16 level. Although a competent forward or midfield player, it was soon obvious that Debbie's best position was at full-back where her hard tackling, her speed and her ability to read the game were natural assets which made her a force to be reckoned with, even at so young an age. Now that Debbie has experience too on her side, she is maturing into a fine Western League player"
(From a programme article in 1980)

DEBI CORKIN (Exeter Rangers)
Aged 17. First played football in 1977 for Exeter Ladies F.C. Her football career started in their Reserve team, who were then in the Devon League. After winning her Club's 'Most Improved Player Award' in her first year, she was soon promoted to the 1st team. Her progress was rewarded with selection for The South West Under 17 side in the 1977/78, 1978/79 and 1980/81 Seasons. Last season saw her leave Exeter Ladies to join Kingsteignton, but Kingsteignton became defunct that same season. Debi now plays her football for Exeter Rangers. She is a versatile player who plays in defence or midfield.
