Giles Baxter appeared as a guest for Exeter City during 1945/46 when two interim league competitions - Division Three South (South of Thames) [played until Christmas] and the Division Three South Cup (Southern Section) [played from January] - were organised ahead of a return to ‘normal’ league football in 1946/47. 

A Bradford (Park Avenue) player at the time, Giles was a forward who played in a public practice game at St James' Park on on 18 August 1945 prior to making a solitary guest appearance for Exeter City in a 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace in October 1945 in a Division Three South (South of the Thames) fixture.

He was stationed locally with the Royal Marines and also played in a reserve match against Swindon Town. He died in Dewsbury in 1997.
