Biographical Text

Betteridge was given a contract by Exeter City after impressing in pre-season trials. The full-back had previously played for his local team, Boscombe.
Playing in what was the first season in the Football League, as far as the Grecians were concerned, Betteridge featured in just two matches, his debut coming in a 2-0 defeat at Newport County on 2nd October 1920.

He retained his place in the side for the following match a 2-1 home win over Gillingham.

Released by City at the end of the season, Betteridge then played for Maidstone United and Peterborough & Fletton United, but was back in the Football League with Crystal Palace in 1928, making one appearance.

He went on to play for Loughborough Corinthians, Betteridge died in 1979.
