Blunden played for Exeter City in the Plymouth and District League before the club turned professional in 1908.

A former Exminster player and also a cricketer, he made his only appearance for Exeter City’s first-team against Plymouth Argyle Reserves on 19 October 1907 appearing as a centre-forward. He was one of thirty-two players appearing for the team that season. and one of two who made their only appearance in this game.
