Biographical Text

A native of the Ayrshire town of Dalry, Campbell started his goalkeeping career with junior side, Springside Thistle.

He then appeared for Irvine Meadow, before gaining Scottish League experience with Partick Thistle whom he joined for the start of the 1926-27 season.

Arriving at Exeter City for 1928-29, he competed for the goalkeeping place in the first team with Tom Holland.

After featuring in the first half of the season, making his debut against Brentford, he was to lose his place to Holland, and at the end of the campaign was released.
