This Heritage Lottery funded award is the third of a series developed by the collaboration between the University’s Centre for Intermedia and Creative Technologies (Professor Gabriella Giannachi) and the ECFC Supporters Trust History Group and ECFC Museum (Martin Weiler, Paul Farley and Will Barrett), with the support of the ECFC Trust (Elaine Davis) Exeter City Football Club (Justin Quick) Devon County Council (Simon Kitchen), and the South West Heritage Trust (Brian Carpenter).

The project, which started in July 2019, aims to identify, exhibit, preserve and share the heritage of the club and involves a milestone collaboration with the Community Trust to deliver a series of health and well-being workshops to senior citizens and war veterans in the South West. Thanks to the generous donations of the Express and Echo, the families of former ECFC goalkeeper Barney Singleton and Club photographer Chris Howes, the ECFC Museum has received 15,000 images, scrapbooks, telegrams and letters spanning the period 1940s to today which will be used in the deliverables listed below.

Thanks to the generous backing of a number of other football clubs, the Exeter Chiefs, the PFA and the Unified Football Supporters Organisation this project will also entail a number of workshops aimed at identifying best practice in the exhibition and preservation of sporting heritage which will result in the creation of a white paper and film.
