We now pass an unusual grave – that of Billy Light, a prominent cricketer as you can see from the motifs on the memorial stone. Light played first class cricket for Hampshire and then excelled for Devon between 1902 -1928. He is second on the all time list of Devon wicket takers and fourth for the run scoring. Billy signed for Exeter City in 1905 and played for the Reserves. He is typical of many that played both games at that time but was clearly a better cricketer than footballer.
