MIDFIELDER
1989/90 APPEARANCES: 38
GOALS: 5

Clive Whitehead was towards the end of a distinguished playing career when he played a crucial role in Exeter City’s title win.

He had joined the Grecians as a player-coach in the summer of 1989, having played more than 450 games for Bristol City, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth respectively.

He made his debut in the opening day victory over Doncaster Rovers and was an almost ever-present in the side that season, netting five goals in the process.

A move to Yeovil Town followed in October 1990, as Clive took up the role of player-manager, but he was dismissed from the position in April 1991.

He then worked as an academy coach and scout at his former club Bristol City, and later as a football agent and referee’s assessor.
