Death and Legacy

On 25 March 1918 Walter led his men on an attack of the German trenches. Soon after entering 'no man's land' he was struck by a bullet and died. Despite the gallant efforts of his fellow soldiers to save him, his body was never recovered.

Today a memorial for Walter Tull stands at Northampton Town, while the Tull 100 campaign has sought to remember his experience, success and sacrifice. Through this we can reflect on ourselves, and above all honour his memory by standing up to discrimination today.

"The battalion and company have lost a faithful officer... and I have lost a friend"
